The main reason we don't have many basements in Ok. is our clay soil. It expands and contracts a great deal with moisture. When we get rain it expands putting pressure on the walls. When we have our long dry periods it contracts, pulling away from the wall. Basements here take a little bit of consideration for these changes. There are some contractors who specialize in basement construction, but most people are not willing to pay the high cost of a properly built basement here. So mainly you only see them in commercial buildings.

in some places there is a water under the ground and if you build a basement, the water presser on the building could cause a serious problem In the building and that depend on the amount of the water under the ground
