Next door neighbors have 5 cats. There are many more in my neighborhood and they all roam free. I have a dog but my yard is not fenced so he cannot be outside unless I am with him. I have motion sensor lights that turn on when a cat enters my yard and I go out and throw water on them which works when I am home or not asleep. I cleaned uo 30 "piles" this week!!! Help!

Call the animal control, as there are laws concerning cats roaming free. Live traps might also be used in extreme cases as well. Cat waste can spread diseases such as toxoplasmosis, so this is nothing to mess with. So call them and get their advice. There are some animal repellants out there, but mothballs are one of the cheapest. You will still have to the remove the waste from you garden as this still attracts more cats.

I know this is not an answer you were hoping for, but try to be not too hasty with the cats--try to be grateful instead, for I suspect the cats are doing their job; most likely a field mice roam in your garden too.

Pour ammonia around the outside of your garden. Cats hate the smell of ammonia. If that doesn't work I'd call animal control.

check at a bait store, or some where, that hunting supplies are sold, and see if they have some coyote sent, or wolf sent, put that around your garden,
