Dividing the numerator (the top number of the fraction) by the denominator (the bottom number of the fraction) is the quickest and easiest way. If you want to convert 1/4 into a fraction it will come up as .25, which is 25% (multiplying it by 100). Anything above 1.0 in decimal form is more than 100% and anything below .10 (10%) needs a zero in front of it because it has only one digit. For example, 9% would be .09 in decimal form.

Right, What you need to do, is divide 100 (%and full amout possible) by the bottom of the fraction(denominator). Say you have got the fraction - 15/20, we can simply work out that it is 75% but what you must do is 100 divided by 20 = 5 then multiply the answer by the top part of the fraction. 15 x 5 = 75%

if you express the fraction as hundredths, how many hunderedths there are is the percentage

4/5 =4 x 20 / 5 x 20......(you say 5 into 100 goes 20 times)

4x20/100

=80/100

=80%

3/4

4 into 100 goes 25 times so put 3 x 25 in the numerator (top line) and 4 x 25 in denominator (bottom line) to get 100 in the denominator.

3 x 25 / 100

= 75/100

=75%

Just divide the top number by the bottom number - Then multiply the answer by 100

Or - Multiply the top number by 100 and divide that by the bottom number.

(does the same thing but use whichever way you can remember easiest)

a percentage is literally per hundred...

25% 1/4
33% 1/3
50% 1/2
75% 3/4

and you can extrapolate the missing numbers half of 25 is 12.5% 1/8th 6.25 is 1/16th 3.125 is 32nd

its all quite simple really
