Somebody is using my unsecured network for free.
I have the name of the PC & MAC#. How can I catch him?
Can my provider spots and found out in what apartment that hacker is? I live in an apartment complex. I am planning to change to a new router soon

You can use a program so you can hack him.;)

But it's illegal.
Secure your wireless net.

It is illegal to use an unsecured network without permission. It is just like entering a stranger's house because the door is unlocked.Another person who answered your question told you to secure your network. That will solve the problem. If you really want to catch them,do a Google search and learn about the netstat command which will show you the ip address of the person connecting to you. Then give the address to that persons internet provider.A whois search of the ip address will tell you who to contact.Whether you feel it is worth the time to do that is up to you.

You don't have change the router neither to go to FBI to catch the guy.He is not a hacker and it is not illegal what he is doing He is taking advantage of your unsecured network.Your device transmit data to about 350 feet away.Since you have not security it's a free game. All you need to do is to secure your network. It is very simple. On your browser type 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 ,this will take you to your router Put the user name and password ,if you never put one the default is usually admin as user name and blank for password If does not work check the internet for the default password for the device you have. Then in the wireless button choose security (WPA or WEP) and put a security key That's it >now your neighbor is upset.

THIS IS NOT A HACKER.

In fact, this is not even someone using you wireless without permission... by not securing your router you are GIVING them your permission.

You are assuming quite a bit too. You're assuming it's a HE and you are assuming they are doing it with the intent on stealing your bandwidth.

Plenty of people use wireless cards which will jump to the closest router. So it could be someone with no intention of logging onto YOUR wireless.. they may be using their own router and it is dropping their signal and they are hopping onto yours.

If you are using wireless then you have the ability to simply log into the config of the router and secure it.

Good Luck.

This is not a hacker, this is someone using your Router Access without your permission. To prevent this person from using, either secure your network with WEP or WPA-PSK Key (highly recommended) or block the MAC from your Router in the Configuration of it.
