I don't think that's true at all. Maybe my family is just different, but if my parents need anything, we provide it for them. My sister bought a house for my parents to live in. My brother is always fixing things up there, doing repairs because my father is too old now to do it. None of us would ever see my parents go without what they needed.
Families should help each other. I do find it sad that some put their elderly in nursing homes, but these are people who usually have no children or have sorry children. I love my parents. They were good to me, and I will be good to them. I actually know no Americans who I feel treat "elderly like crap." I'm sure they exist, but I personally know of no one.

I tried listening to a number of them to learn things from and have discovered that many of them are a bunch of socialites. I think it stems from way back when FDR and his bunch put all the goodies for us sheep to fall for. Selfishness has been with this nation a long time. I know its not just the elderly but have you noticed when you go anywhere the elderly are rude and its like you owe them something. When I seen the book The Greatest Generation . I thought what load of baloney all it did was lead them to be more arrogant then they all ready are.

We simply do not revere our elderly and their wisdom like other cultures do. When the media forces young and cute and sexy upon us all the time, we tend to think of older folks as "has beens" and not worth anything. Sad, but true.

America treats everyone like crap, unless you're a middle class white male. Look at the white house representation......that should tell u something right there. If you have no representation, how do you expect to get equal treatment?

Like most generalizations this one is false. It is personal and/or cultural choice.

We didn't until we started electing conservative republicans to office. Back in the 'terrible liberal days', life for Americans really was much better, across the board.

Because most elderly believe in "culture" not "diversity" so the sooner they die off the coffee drinking backpackers who are taking over once nice neighborhoods can take over and rule
