Racism and discrimination always go together. We see that in the phrase racial discrimination. Combining them is almost tautological because one is a gander and the other is a goose. There's a shade of difference, though. Racism is the BELIEF that people of some races are inferior to others while discrimination is the PRACTICE of treating one group of person or group of people less well than others.

One way to look at it would be that discrimination is selective ie you have a criteria which is not based on caste, color or a creed of people but purely on your likes or dislike, for whatever reasons.Racism is something,we apply en mass and except for it self ,there is no criteria as such.We may discriminate against people who pose a threat to our position, wealth or whatever. In racism,it's as plain and simple ie dislike or hate such and such a race, whether they pose any threat to us or not.Discrimination is need based where as Racism is just idealogical.
