Well, it's probably safe in most restaurants - they are inspected regularly are they not? But I have been visiting Soho for over 30 years and have to say that decent restaurants are not easy to find. One place where you can get a decent steak is a Wetherspoon's pub. There are several in central London - see their website. Also I am usually satisfied by the food and service in Spaghetti House: there's one in Bloomsbury, also another in Charlotte Street and one more in Haymarket. Those are not in Soho I know but there is another nice little Italian place in Windmill Street, off Shaftsbury ave, called Piccadilly. that's Soho and the service there is pretty good. Good luck!

Is beef in Soho any different to beef in Covent Garden???? I think the way that restaurants work is that they don't actually rear the meat in the garden out the back. They buy it from a butcher who in turn gets it from the farmer. The meat is then separated into batches and then sent to different restaurants all over London depending on who the catering company is.

Yes - if it IS beef.

I am sure that the meat served in the last oriental restaurant in Soho that I visited was "stewed end of rat".

It's as safe as eating beef anywhere else, I should think.

If it looks good then go ahead and eat it. But if it looks dodgy then avoid it. Simple :)
