Right, I'm getting really confused with this whole trying to conceive thing! I'm not sure whether I'm pregnant or not at the moment and its too early to tell, so I'm still planning next months conception.
I have bought a supply of Clomid. Now should this be taken on days 3-7 or 5-9?
And will my ovulation predictor kit still work?
And the folic acid....I've heard thats a good herbal remedy?
And with clomid and ovulation predictor kits do I still need to track my BBT?
If I cant do these at the same time, which ones are best?
Please don't say talk to my doctor he is a patronising pig!
Thanks, any advice is MUCH needed and appreciated in advance!

Ok I will help you, I have done clomid, bbt and opks.
Folic acid helps to stop neural tube defects and should be taken 1 month prior to conceiving and keep taking it at least the first three months of pregnancy.
Clomid is usually taken on days 5-9, but some Doctors like to use it 3-7 to make you ov earlier in your cycle.
You should still take your bbt because they are a good indicator of when you may ovulate.
You can try opk and see what you think, but they aren't like a pregnancy test where two lines are a positive. To get a positive opk the test line needs to be darker than the control line and then is can still be 12-36 hrs before you ovulate.
Please go and get another Doctor, dealing with a patronising pig while trying to get pregnant will just make the journey harder and Hun with the clomid you may get a touch hormonal.
Good luck it you need anymore help, I have done your ride for 10 years, luckily I have 2 kids now and trying to get my last one, but I may be able to help.

The days you take clomid is really a matter of your doctors preference, most studies show it makes no difference when you take it, but my Gyn and RE both agree that day 3 was a better start date, so that's what I used, 3-7, taken right before bed so I would sleep through some of the side effects. Also, be sure your doc monitors you closely to prevent Ovarian HyperStimulation.
The OPK's will still work, but do not begin testing until you are 3 days past the last tablet--if you take clomid days 3-7 then start using OPK on CD10.
Folic acid is important for the development of the fetus once you are pregnant and it helps prevent neural tube defects, it does nothing to actually help get you pregnant, but you should still be taking it. It is in every prenatal vitamin, which you should be on prior to conception.
You don't have to track BBT if you don't want, but I prefer to so I know that the OPK's were right and I actually did ovulate and where I'm at in my luteal phase.

Folic Acid Ovulation

First off take a deep breath...I suggest finding a new doctor that will be more willing to sit down and talk with you. I mean you are paying HIM for his advice so he best be giving you his attention! Clomid does affect OPK, I recommend tracking your BBT's that way you know when you ovulated- have sex everyother day that way you don't miss ovulation.

Plus having sex everyother day helps promote high sperm levels....Folic Acid is very good to be taking. I am ttc'ing and taking it so if and when I do become pregnant the risks of Neural tube defects are reduced. You are doing very good by doing this...KUDOS!

IF you know the average length of your cycles you can also go to baby2see.com and get an ovulation calendar to help you time intercourse better.

I am sorry that your RE is such an jerk....I would definitely find a New RE....

Best of luck and I hope this terribly long post helped.....

Lots of sticky baby dust to you...

First of all - get a new doctor before having a baby. You don't need to be treated that way and you shouldn't be uncomfortable...........
go get a book called "taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. I think every woman should read this book. It will clear up all your questions and help you get rid of all the myths about conception!
