I think their intentions are good...but the effect of their policy is not.
To make meanial jobs "comfortable" with a living wage, is to accept that people needn't strive to better themselves.
Menial jobs should be tedious entry level positions...and everyone that holds them should want to move up and out as fast as possible...making that job available to the next entry level person.

That depends on which democrat, Clearly the front runners are not.. Both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are backed by corporate sponsors, lobbyists and interest groups... think about it, why would these high powered groups give so much money if the politicians they are giving it to are just going to help the working people.. Do you know Barack/Hillary's plan for social security, how about taxes?
Look over it and then tell me that they are for the working people. No top tier candidate regardless of party is for the working people.
You want someone in office that is going to benefit you then I strongly suggest you look into Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul..

First try and get the Democrats to define who "working people" are. Try to get them to define that by income. There are a lot of misconceptions about wealth, most of those misconceptions fostered by Democrats, who want us to believe that people who make a lot of money don't really earn it fairly. That isn't so 9 times out of 10. But to be able to take that money from them, Democrats need to believe that they didn't earn it fairly in the first place, so they can feel good about stealing that money.

Hell, no, I think all politicians are only for themselves. The dems like to make people believe they are for the working class but I have yet to see anything of substance come from them. Oh yeah, I know they raised the minimum wage. Don't they understand that isn't going to do anything but raise the price of everything and possible cause some people to lose their jobs.

I agree(w/ianmcilnay), and believe that all politicians only work to secure better lives for their families and friends, no matter which party they claim to represent.

not really since they want to take our money away from us. They think they know how to spend OUR money better than we do.
