Like so many other things that Mr. Bush has gotten disastrously wrong, he’d already made up his mind and had no interest in listening to others’ arguments.

Now it is up to Congress to show Mr. Bush that such blind partisanship will not be rewarded. For the sake of America’s children, lawmakers must override the veto.

The above is a quote from New York Times. How many of you high minded, God fearing self righteous conservatives have contacted their congressmen and told them to override this latest piece of Busbaby insanity? No teen age wanabes need reply. Nobody really cares what you think.

Do you have any idea how badly military and VA medical systems are managed?

Those of us who have actual experience with government medical care dealing with difficult medical problems AND experience with private medical care dealing with difficult problems will do everything we can to prevent the Government from running medical care in the United States.

Here is what I suggest you do to figure out first hand how bad government health care is because experience is the only teacher.

1: Become a member of the military or become so poor you are on medicaid.

2: Either have a child with extreme medical problems or adopt a child with extreme medical problems.

3: Deal with the government bureaucrats and government doctors watching your child slowly die from red tape.

Then you can explain to me why the government has to control medical care in the United States.

In the meantime President Bush will still be right.

I am not a conservative. I am an independent moderate. In my opinion, the congress is using this issue as a political football. They are the ones who are being unreasonable, not Bush.
Bush originally asked for an increase in S-chip funding. But the congress loaded the bill up with entitlements that went too far. The congress' bill allows adults to receive S-chip funds. It is this extention of the coverage that Bush vetoed and rightly so.
S-chip was intended for children, not adults. Bush is more than willing to sign the measure with more funding than he originally asked for, but he is not willing to include adults in this children's medical coverage bill.
The congress is blowing this all out of portion and making this an election year issue. In the meantime, the children who Bush wanted health care extended to are being left without coverage.
Again, I am an independent moderate, and I am looking at this debate objectively. I am not a Bush supporter, and I can hardly wait for him to leave office. But this veto BS was clearly a measure the Democrats set up on purpose to discredit the Republicans further during election time.
The Democrats are using children as political pawns. Shame on them.

They need to get this bill right and again our President has done the right thing. He isn't against America's children, but a 22 year old is not a child. Congress needs to get their laws right before they send them to the President. Congress needs to start getting something right. Congress needs to start doing their job.

Most of the "children" who are covered now are adults, 56% of them in Arizona for example, and the bill allows for an even larger percentage of those funds for children being used for adults, many of those adults being illegal border crossers.

If you want to do something for "America's children", support the veto and start demanding that the funds for children actually be used for children and not adults.

Assuming you're talking about his veto, he did the right thing...under the bill, covered "poor children" would have included 22 year-olds whose parents make over $80,000 a year...why don't you do some research before you come on here incoherently whining? I contact my congressman to tell him Bush does a bang-up job.

Why he may or may not be wrong, I don't think many people believe that the NY Times is an impartial source to quote from.
