It's predestined. We do the things we do because it is meant to go that way.
The only way you can change your destiny is by looking at your future and trying to change the course of events that might lead to what you saw there.
But of course, you can't see the future unless you're an advanced psychic, so everybody has their own destiny that cannot be changed.

The past is a memory
The future a dream
All of time is now.
The future, fate or predestination. Not real. Period.
We plan for the future. We imagine & strive for possible futures. Sometimes we can guess the future.
But that's what it is, a guess.
We are neither all powerful, nor powerless as to our future.
Other people and natural forces are in play.
There is one thing you can know though. You cannot achieve your goals, unless you try.

The ever present uncertainty makes me believe that there isn't such an orderly state of affairs that can be termed as predestined....... not only I but also a hell of a lot of other people (and even inanimate objects) seem to have power over my life..... no wonder then that life is invariably so unpredictable and inconsistent.

We do have the power. I never believed it to be predestined. Never read the bible microscopically. Destinies are in general terms and not individual. Several parables illustrate this such as the "The Prodigal Son" or " The Lost Coin."
God is there ready to help but not to interfere if we don't want Him to. What sets us apart from angels is the freedom of choice and to think.

i think it's a little of both, because all of us have the power to change our lives by the decisions we make, i right now know for a fact i could change my life for the better if i would just do the things i need to change/fix, so maybe we our predestined but we could make things a lot easier for ourselves along the way, like choosing to stay away from drugs, alcohol, hurting people, not to live like a monk just in moderation, i don't know, I'm trying to say something it's just not coming out the way i want it to :))

Predestined means we follow a plan ... but you know we fail to fulfil what we know we should do many times.
So then there is a Plan B
In Christianity, Plan A was live in Eden (Earth) with Kids, but "Ate" and failed ... Plan B was Abel makes offering and Cain accepts his younger bro as someone closer to God ... but Cain killed Abel ... Plan C was get back to Adam's family size, and start again (Adam + Eve + Cain + Abel + Seth +sons wives = 8) So Noah had 8 on Ark ... but then, his son didn't trust Noah. Whatever he said to his bros was so offensive, they didn't want to look at him.
Etc ... first victory was Jacob. An Angel blessed him and re-named him "Israel" because he strove with God and won". But that victory was only on a family level.
It took a while to get National victory. Many times all things were set up, then the leader did a failure and things had to be repeated
(Tabernacle built, then Moses got angry ... Ark came into Jerusalem, then David committed adultery ... rejecting prophets and Temple was destroyed ... finally, temple was rebuilt and the people focused on Malachai's direction to set up a National preparation for God to send the Messiah. Jesus could be born after that )
God has plans ... but it is up to us to fulfill.
We also have our own power to express that plan according our unique personality. That's what helps to keep things interesting for God.

Perhaps it is predestined that you will have power over your own life. Perhaps you are a strong willed individual who will be persevering and achieve your goals, overcome obstacles and be a successful person. Perhaps you are not aware of your boundless inner strength, and one day you will and use your gift to be who you want to be.

The answer to this question greatly relies on your faith. It is not something "professionals" can factually answer.
What do I believe? "Destiny is a thing to be achieved, not waited for." You have to make things happen. However, luck, and being in the right place at the right time, can profoundly affect your fate. : ) Just don't expect it to- that causes one to become lazy.
