i agree. I think Lowe made some outstandingly stupid moves this off season and Penner was the biggest, but Burke needs to grow up and except that he needs to take the bad with the good just like a big boy.

Fact is that K. Lowe invested in an unproven player. He took a chance and did absolutely nothing wrong. No rules were broken so yes Burke should let it go and stop acting like a child. I can understand his frustration over losing a talented player like Penner, but he did get 3 draft picks.

He is definetely acting like a big baby. Yes, it sucks that the oilers got Penner, but they are fully within their rights to do so. They are just following the rules in the new CBA.
I think Lowe is grossly overpaying Penner but if he wants to do that then whatever. In Burkes defence, he believes that the offer sheets to Vanek and Penner will drive salaries higher. That's why there is a cap though. Not everyone can ask for that kind of money or no one will have a place to play.

Actually, Penner was a restricted free agent, that's why Burke was throwing a fit and received draft picks. And, yes, he is acting like a big baby because it's been months, the season has started, and he's STILL griping.

Both Burkie and Lowe have reasons to be pissed off. Lowe's Oilers have been treated like sh*t over the last few years (probably longer than that) and of course he's a desparate GM. Burkie doesn't appreciate that he and his good friend Dave Nonis have both been hit hard by this offer-sheet thing (different situations, I know). He's taking it very personally, as he always does, and so be it, but he could rip Lowe to his face, privately, away from the media. If another GM did this, Gary Bettman would likely fine him but will he fine Burkie? They're good friends and Brian worked for Bettman in New York for about 5 years and likely won't see the same treatment that another GM would see.

Lowe's move was technically legit, but I don't like the way he went about doing things over the summer. I understand the position he was in, but he just made himself look bad dangling money wherever he might get a bite from anyone with some talent.
I didn't know Burke was still complaining about it. If so, he is a baby. It sucked but its been months now...time to move on.

No, I do not think he is acting like a baby. I think there is a agreed code of respect in the NHL, unlike most sports, and the oilers GM broke that code of respect. Unfortunately for the Oilers Gm, he signed a player who is not as good as he believes and wasted too much money on him. Dustin Penner is a good player who will be even better as he matures but i do not think he will be a superstar.

It seems like he's more into slamming Kevin Lowe in the media than worrying about Anaheim's 1-3-0 record.

Lowe is paid to make a winning team. If there is a way to 'steal' other teams' players and he doesn't use it, then he doesn't deserve a paycheque. Burke needs to get over himself.
