i have just changed my 256 ram to 1gb ram. but how come my laptop is still so slow...lagging and lagging

You need to do a complete disk cleanup and defrag after running a thorough anti-virus scan and adware removal. Then do a defrag. Also, are you sure the memory you installed is as fast as what was original? Slower memory, no matter how much, will sometimes be worse than less that is faster.

Check under Control Panel / System to make sure Windows can see the whole 1GB of memory first,

If it is showing 1GB, then your computer is most likely infected, even so, adding that much memory normally will yield a huge difference in speed already.

The speed of the pc doesn't fully depends on RAM you must have compatible processor, motherboard and if your OS is corrupt or if you have virus in your pc can also create a problem.So first scan your pc with AVG spyware and see the result
