I guess because the Blue staters want to take YOUR money in the form of taxes and give it to people THEY deem deserving. While Red staters believe that they should give their money to causes they believe in. Also the Blue states believe they are smarter than the Red staters, which is totally funny since the Blues states Blue states due to their decaying, high crime, major cities where no sane person would live voluntarily.

They aren't. The figures that purportedly "prove" that "RedStaters" give more to charity include money paid to the so-called "churches" they attend--but those fundie churches are no more than social clubs/political organizations.

If --and there are studies out there that have done this--factor out this and look at actual giving to charity, the RedStaters don't even come close to giving what the rest of america does.

To put it another way--paying for the million dollar mansions and multimillion dollar private jets of televangelists is not "giving." Putting money into programs that help the poor, fund medical research, and the like--programs that actually help those who need help--that's what charity means.

Blue states have higher tax rates, which leaves less disposable income to give to charities. Also, people who believe in the welfare state tend to not see the value of charities. Lastly, supporting a welfare state doesn't make you generous - it just makes you willing to steal money from some and redistribute it to others, so it's not all that surprising that the advocates of this kind of system are none too generous.

The residents of states with the lowest incomes give the greatest percentage of their incomes to charity. These happen to be the "red" states of Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. These states are largely evangelical and the people tithe to their churches. The northern or northeastern states give the most to charity in actual dollars.

Studies have shown that conservatives are far more quick to give to charity where as liberals tend to believe the government should be the one taking care of the what ever the problem is. Here is a link for the non believers. A simple google search will bring up 1.9 million search results on the topic.

If that's true, a logical guess would be because Red states support less government funding and more private funding.

Because a good republican gets a receipt he can use to lower his taxes, and can wave in church.
A good Democrat gives it to people who can't write receipts, and usually adds a little bit of his heart
