Here, I am talking about good remembrance. Through out history, there are great people that we still remember and quote whatever they said or did. What makes some people memorable and others not? I need specific suggestions. Make your answer in specific points and clear.

Um?

I've always been of the view that doing things with such a motive negates their value.

If i was a christian, i might point to Jesus telling his disciples to do their good works in secret.

As a buddhist, though many ignore it, the orthodox view is that good works carried out with the motive of getting good karma are unlikely to achieve their aim.

Do I sound holier than thou if I say a person should do the right thing, not because people will praise them for it, but because it's the right thing? Of course, a bit of praise is always nice, but I would prefer to receive it while I am still around to appreciate it.

It is so sad to say but I am afraid it is true. After one generation, your own family forgets your first name and doesn't visit your grave.
