Do you think hamburger meat will be safe again? Should we all be nervous?

i worked in the retail meat business for 17 years for a small chain [20 stores] and was responsible for grinding meat at many of them, we also kept our equipment clean & made sure our product was fresh & never allowed it to be out of refridgeration any longer than possible, at the end of the business day any leftover product was made into patties and frozen . this insured freshness of product. i understand in a large operation such as a processing plant like topps meats it is difficult but i lay the blame on management & supervision. they have to be more diligent on sanitary conditions and cleanliness of their workers. it's sad that so many people will be without jobs when all that what was needed was better sanitary conditions.

I feel like the people who inspect the meat need to do better! I think laziness played a part in this mishap! It's like they don't take the time to think about the possibility of us consumers getting sick!
