yes and what do you class as a chess-master,maybe I am,maybe I'm not,I haven't faced many that have been able to defeat me,though that still doesn't make me a chess-master,not that I'm aware of anyway.
Interesting question have a star,and it makes me wonder what you where looking for in this answer,was it just a survey,interest or deeper then that?

Yes, I love playing chess. I am probably not a chessmaster [might be, who knows] because I can never get anyone to play chess with me! All of my family hates the game!

No, by the way the cognitive benefits of playing chess is corroborated fact, a simple google search will reveal the abundant research papers on it. How ironic that this fool "prisoner in this world" claims this absurd, it does not take much contemplation to realize that a game greatly demanding intellectual effort (in the form of reason) will have cognitive effects. Further, consider the corollaries that are entailed from this absurd argument against chess on a warrant that it is absorbing or time consuming. Surely then anything, excluding practice of Islamic nature, should be haram as everything is time consuming and almost all forms of leisure are further absorbing too. It must be stressed that the Hadith on chess are to be taken "*** grano salis" for if chess was compared to games of gambling then surely the suggestion is that its use was of this nature not that it is somehow unwarrantably equivalent to gambling.
