Believe he was the only one wearing a safety belt!
He was in the car and where else would he have been if he was not the bodyguard?

It has to be and it hopefully will silence the conspiracy theorists

Ru Newton-I would say it's a simple case of thing that they were above the law, invincible, and it won't happen to us syndrome
Saying we will never know is not really positive thinking-don't mean to offend, but if it's staring us in the face -why deny it?

He was driving like James Hunt! (what does that rhyme with?) Too fast, too narrow a road, artificial lighting, p*ssed & drugged up to the eyeballs

It was definitely his fault. Yes.

I still think it was an accident and I believe it was probably a chain of circumstances rather than just one cause. I'm not sure that Henri Paul was actually drunk - that would probably have been noticed, but I do believe he had had a couple of drinks, possibly after he went off duty and before he returned to the hotel that night, just enough to slow his reactions. He could have been tired - he had finished his shift several hours previously and was called back. He could just have been impatient at being called out and so became careless. He seems to have signalled to the reporters, maybe he was looking forward to a chase and to outwitting them. He was certainly speeding.

We will never really know what happened, but I genuinely believe it was just a tragic accident where for one reason or another Henri Paul lost control of the car. This inquiry is a complete waste of time though. If the verdict is 'accident', then Al Fayed and other 'conspiracy' believers will not accept the outcome but will carry on believing she was murdered.

It's just like Marilyn Monro, JFK, even Elvis. They were all famous, attractive, glamorous gods and goddesses, icons, and icons simply CANNOT die normal deaths like the rest of us mere mortals, there has to be a more sinister reason.

I absolutely DO NOT AGREE !
I think they were killed by YES a reckless speeding driver being Henri Paul..but not a drink driver...i think its been very easy to use him as a scape goat, after all he's dead and cannot defend himself....but to believe that ALL the immediate Ritz Staff including Trevor Rees Jones and Dodi and Diana themselves couldn't see that he had been drinking is a farce....something i will never ever believe !
Most of us in everyday life can tell when someones been drinking..and especially if they are well over the limit, which is what Henri Paul was accused of...i mean Diana was an intelligent woman..and the CCTV video footage shows how close physically they all were while still in the Ritz Hotel..so your not telling me that between Trevor Rees Jones, Diana and Dodi and other members of staff..that NONE of them noticed the apparent drunken state Henri Paul was supposedly in....NO WAY !
I think Henri Paul was speeding and because of that speed just simply lost control...like so many other car accidents on our roads today !
I'm sure the powers that be will still say they have proof of his drunken state....and I'm sure this inquest will bring nothing new to the mystery....and if indeed it was a conspiracy between who ever and MI6...DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT IT WILL BE PROVED......NEVER !!!!!!!!!

Sorry but I have to agree with ....... ru/newton

I do not think either Diana, Dodi or Trevor Reese-Jones would not have notice if Henri Paul had been drinking.
I also do not believe that they would have let him drive if they had. Why would the body guard let him drive if he was drunk. It doesn't make sense.
As to the rest. We will never know. I think Henri Paul had been speeding and did hit another vehicle and lost control of the car. That is just my opinion.

A couple of months back Prince Harry Pleaded with the British people to let his Mum rest in piece.

This "new" inquest is a complete waste of time and money.

Those poor lads, yet again having to see there mum's final hours splashed all over the papers.

Its Cruel

There is no reliable evidence that he was drunk, he's the patsy!
How did his supposed blood sample contain enough carbon monoxide to even prevent him standing up get there?
The known facts make the whole affair a mystery which needs investigating fully in public!
Some of you are just in denial & need to wake up!

If her bodyguard saw Henri Paul was drunk do you really think he would allow the man to drive?
And how is it his blood went missing after this crash?

I agree with the above poster, I think Dodi loved her too much to have got in a a car and put her at risk of a drunk driver. Henri Paul was his emploee! He would have had no qualms saying, "no way - you are drunk"

I agree. Most people find it difficult to accept that the Princess would die in such a mundane way - becoming a drink/drive statistic.

He drank - he should not have done - he teased paps - he shouldn't have. The money he had probably came from tipping press about guests and the Fayed family sadly.....
