I had lilies(Asiatic) in the garden for the first time this year. Now that they have died down and the stalks are brown, do I cut them down or just leave them?

Whatever floats your boat. I usually cut the tops off after they finish flowering so they won't try to manufacture seed, leaving about 3 or 4 feet of stem and leaves to strengthen back up. I'll cut the rest off late in the fall when I do a general cleanup of everything, but that is pretty much just for aesthetics. It doesn't hurt to leave the stems until spring if you don't mind the messy look.

You can do either - but I cut mine down when they are dead, cos you need to do it at some point before they grow again next year. They look a lot tidier when you cut back the dead growth.

If you cut them back it all looks that much neater, if not then they stems will naturally rot in to the soil.

when mine are at the point where yours are, i take my pruner and clip them off at ground level. it looks much neater in your flower bed and then in spring the bulbs don't have to fight there way through the old stuff...
