Quite frankly the only thing I have ever seen and that is in California is Japanese gardners always hand pick the dichondra lawn.
Using sprays might kill the dichondra, I really am not sure but usually once it has grown in thick enough there isn't much of a weed problem.

Like others have stated, some clover is nice to your backyard. i might get your soil examined on the grounds that clover likes acidic soil, so changing the soil PH with lime and fertilizing that is going to help.
