Similar thing happened to me , I got my dad to drive me to work even though I felt half dead. When my boss saw me he said I think you'd better go home and rest. I was really ill and I just wanted to prove to them I wasn't slacking.
He can't sack you for that, but if you want a doctors sick note in the UK, you must be off from work for at least 5 working days in a row.

So long as you have a doctors note, no... I would recommend you get straight to the doctors and get him to sign you off sick... that way, there is no way they can fire you for being ill....
Sounds like the person you spoke to on the phone has no idea about HR law but I am sure your boss does and will do absolutely nothing about your sickness..... you can't help being ill and you did absolutely the right thing by not going in... like you said, who wants people coughing everywhere when they are buying food?
I think the most they can do is not give you sick pay...
However, if you have been there under a certain amount of time (I think it may be 6 months) then in some companies you can fire people without giving a reason.... I shouldn't think it will come to that though

Get a doctors note or medical certificate and you're fine..... No employee should be at work when suffering from ill health as the germs spread and if there were only 2 staff members that would have worsened things for them.
ESPECIALLY when dealing with food....if I were a customer I'd sack the boss for letting you work when you're sick...(that actually happened once) the lady was working in the Deli of all places and instead of the customer blasting the lady, he went straight to the manager and request he book her off and he'd volunteer to take her home to recuperate....

It wouldnt be in there best intrest to sack you as that would be gross misconduct and you could actually sue them. You gave them plenty of notice which is all you can do when your sick. As long as you ring in, personally, every day you are off then theres not a lot they can do about it at all.
If your attendance is regularly poor and you show signs of laziness then they have a right to question your punctuality. To sack you on this occasion would just be immoral. Just remember to keep informing them of your condition and you shouldnt have any thing to worry about.
Lots and lots of sex with your boyfriend should help you get better too! Might as well utilize your time off efficiently!

they cant sack you for being genuinely ill. You rang in to let them know so they cant say they werent informed. Sounds like its the old guilt thing that employers use to get you in when you are ill. I guess if you are always going off sick they will see you and discuss options. You were maybe wrong to mention your holiday, I know lots of people at my work regularly go off sick just before their holidays and its really annoying when they do that. I wouldnt worry-speak to your boss when you get back into work to sort out any misunderstandings.

you worded your phone call wrong sounds to me you have a chest infection, Your boss properly thinks you want a couple of days off to get ready for your holiday. If it was me I would see my doctor today get some antibiotics and a private sick note to prove it is true.
How long have you worked for this employer? if it only a short time he could decide you are not suitable. I know this should not happen but it does I was given a written warning for going in hospital for a minor operation and taking a couple of weeks off on a doctors sick note

Hi, in short, no, they can't sack you for being ill. It sounds like they are using bully tactics to try and make you go in to work. However, depending on your contract you may not get paid for the time you have off, but you should at least get SSP. Which may or may not cover your daily rate. You don't say how long you have worked there or weather you have been ill in the past a few times.

If you are worried, get a doctors note. If you are a good employee and they trust you, you shouold have no problem anyway because they will have no reason not to believe you. If htey still give you a hard time I would tell them to **** themselves and quit becuase that is ridiculous. If, and I really say IF, becuase I truely believe nothing will happen, but if you were wrongfully terminated you can go to higher authorities (probably the better business bureau, as well as if you are part of a union, idk if you are, as well as others who can back you) and could sew them for wrongful termination of an employee.

Its when 2 players sack the QB at the same time or if a player would hit the QB the QB staggers but does not go down and another player cleans him up. It can be the call of the stat keeper like a error or hit in baseball.

No you can't get sacked if he sacks you you could take him to court.
Everybody gets sick every now and then and in your case it would be alot worse to go in sneezing over everyone's food.
If you have a contract with your boss then he cannot sack you for something so small as this you have to be able to take sick days.
Get well soon
