Oh you are soooo going to get hit by this one. There's a misleading rumour going around but the American government doesn't represent the average American. Most Americans are really cool people.

It's not all America's fault, don't stereotype and blame all Americans that's just childish!
I do agree with you though about Bush and that some American humour isn't as great as British humour and the fact that some American's I've come across on forums, here and other sites are very horrid and immature.
But like I said, don't go pointing the finger at the innocent and respect the families whose relatives, children , friends etc died because of 9/11!

You make a worthy point, read a book recently that explains in great detail why america is the way it is and how things could change for better if more people took an interest.

It is foolish and sophomoric to personify a nation of people as an entity to hate or dislike. The same ruling families that mucked with Europe and the rest of the world are still at it, just exploiting the working class here just like every else. In the U. S. 95% of all the wealth is tied up in only 5% of the people. As long as the sheep are distracted by simplistic, feeble-minded "them against us" national "rivalries" and blaming, the ruling plunderers are going to continue mucking with the all of us. You wouldn't happen to be one of their paid toadies now, would you?

Being American, and proud of it,I feel we deserve the respect we
have earned over history...Unless you are American you cannot comprehend the patriotic nature of why we are a world power..
It is clear our Government is flawed, but no one is perfect,no one Country is beyond error, and when the going gets tough we stand together, not abandoning our loyalty to our people or others that rely on our help...History proves our Country can fix itself if needed
and done so by the people, for the people..Jealousy is abundant & obvious when foreigners criticize our Government or Country and understandably so,but why not work on your own Countries to accommodate your own needs instead of reveling in useless criticism of the USA,its not like your opinions of us will make a difference,or change the fact your opinions do not matter to us,
we remain a world power no matter what the rest of the world thinks or says,so live with it and work on your own problems for a change,oh wait I forgot...yours is perfect, right?=)

Not all of us are!
I was born in Frankfurt Germany.
My Father was an American Sargent of the Army. He met my Mother when he was stationed in Germany. They fell in love, got married and had 5 daughters. And we all live in California since 1962!
The problem we have here in America is the President! (we should have had a female President long time ago!) I hope "Hilary Clinton" becomes our new President. She is truthful, very honest, and really cares about people. She has a kind-n-loving heart! She has my "VOTE"!

Theyre not worth the hassle to be honest. Its up to the people of America to step up and challenge their government.
You cant blame the American people though. They live in a world of fear run by a bent government and media. They need to find their balls and start a revolution. A lot of people believe Michael Moore has twisted many truths of the government but i actually believe the guy is a hero. People over there need to watch his films and take notice.
Quite frankly its not up to the rest of the world. The power is in the people of America, they just dont know it yet.

I am an American. Thank you for showing your ignorance.
As far as oil and gas prices, the rest of the world is stupid enough to pay in Liters while Americans are paying a lot less because we pay in gallons. We fight to keep it that way.
I travel and teach and have taught in 5 countries.
I can tell that the rest of the world is brainwashed to believe in not winning and are afraid to fight. I don't mean war. I mean ideas and getting our way.
Americans are not afraid to fight. We fight for everything and everything we believe in.
The difference between Americans and the rest of the world is that Americans know they will win and fight for what they believe in.
When the rest of the world starts doing this, there will be a lot more freedom and a better world for everyone.
We fight to keep the gas and oil prices down and won.
I hope that someday the rest of the world wakes up and starts fighting for their rights too.
We all make our choices, Can you live with yours?

Yeah I'd say. I live in New Zealand and our news is so Americanized. In our spelling test at school when I was younger I was marked incorrect for spelling 'colour' the New Zealand way rather than 'color'.
Some American's feel they're the police of the rest of the World.
