Just to tidy things up - the Horned Lizard is often called a 'horned toad'. It's that squat, sluggish, spiny lizard found in the south-west US. There's a similar ant-eating lizard found (I think) in Australia, but I don't know if it also uses eye-bleeding as a defense. A number of insects excrete blood defensively, and usually have some sort of nasty chemical additives to make it more unpleasant; I don't recall whether the lizards have that feature.
