War is so worse to the people that it should be avoided at almost all costs. The suffering is tremendous. We saw it in WWII, in Vietnam and now in Iraq, just to mention a few examples. There's nothing like a "justified war".

Only if you're under attack of another country, you have to take measures to defend yourself, your family and your country.

If the enemy is weak, you can do it "the usual way" with your army. Do it, if you think, you can win.

But what measures are good, if the enemy is very strong, like USA, France or China? The Philippines lost a war against USA 1900. So you feel discouraged. But the Vietnamese won, and the IRaqi are succesfully harrassing the USA.

In all cases mentioned the attacked resorted to a guerilla tactic, but the Filipinos lost. Why? Maybe mainly three reasons (there might be more): There was no TV at that time. If the world and the people in the USA would have seen the methods and gruelties applied, the war might have been won by the Filipinos, coz it would have restrained the USA to apply such cruelties like water cure and hamletting.

The other reason was maybe, that the Filipinos didn't know, that they can win. Only years later, with Mao and Ho Chi Minh, the world learned, that guerilla can succedd against overhelming powers.

The last main reason were the many elite people switching sides to the USA, coz they prefer to align their flags with the wind (sorry my English) and to preserve their influence.

So I think, if Philippines fight against an overhelming power, they have to resort to guerilla tactic. They have to keep the world informed and to avoid human right violations by themselves. Together you can hardly be defeated - even by a super power. Further you have to punish the people, who like to "align their flags with the wind", coz this is likely, they will be your Achilles' heel.

But you have to be aware, that there will be still a lot of suffering, as it is in a war. But if the case is just (defending your country), so go ahead even against the USA.

As our national anthem says at the end "Ang mamatay ng dahil sa 'yo"

So, we could suffer and die for our country.

Now, that answers your question. Can I move on to what we must do so we do not fight a foolish war? Truth to tell, it would be most embarrassing for such world powers like France or the US to go to war versus the Philippines. It would look like a sit-com.

If the Philippines were to go to war against the cast of "the OC", diet pepsi, liver spread and those "queer eye for the straight guy" homos, then we'd have a chance... yeah, I'd grab my bolo and fight them.

Any other enemy, I'd run for the hills.

ADDITIONAL:
Bopols, the US and it's allies already went to war against Afghanistan... one of the poorest countries in the world.
