they're not used to having something inside their 'you-know'. there are myths like loosing virginity. Using tampons could also put you at risk for a rare but very dangerous illness called toxic shock syndrome specially if you dont change your tampons regularly. and tampons are more expensive than pads.

The perception is that tampons may be a way of loosing one's virginity. Filipinos still value viriginity.

a lot of girls here don't know what a tampon is,have even seen one and even have heard of the name especially in the rural areas and provinces. that is maybe due to lack of advertisement, we've seen a lot of TV commercials about popular napkin brands sold here in the Philippines, whisper,modess,carefree etc.....but i have yet to see a tampon commercial

tampons were launched in th philippines early 1980's. there were many myths about this things like, as they said, you can lose your virginity by using tampons. and the funniest myth is that it get lost inside you body, causing infection and/or death.
i used tampons while in the u.s.

Hey rax, this was a joke. Unless you use a tampoon as big as a coke bottle, I think the virginity issue won't come into play.

They're not popular here in the Phil. bec. many believe that it will have an effect on the hymen of the person using it esp. if the person using it is a teener (teenager).
