Do you mean, "Why do people think our species is better than other species?"

As human beings, we see things from a human point of view. This is rather self-centered, but it is entirely natural. It's easier for me to see a teacher's point of view than a student's; a parent's point of view than a child's. Sometimes I look at my cat and wonder how he sees the world -- because it can only be from his own point of view.

So we see ourselves as:
1. able to control our environment and live everywhere - homes, clothing, ...
2. able to communicate with written and spoken language
3. aware of our own mortality

and we have no proof of these characteristics in other species.

So we see ourselves as above these in terms of evolutionary development.

As far as good goes, I don't think we see people as being innately good. We all know of plenty of examples of people doing things that are not good. And, if we are honest with ourselves, we know that we don't always do the good thing either. Still, we see ourselves as being superior.

I'm not saying that I think it's right. I'm saying that I think that's how it is.
