There is incorrect grammar used on almost every TV channel. Mass media productions are often written and produced quickly (in the case of some programming, daily or weekly) and as such, the quality of the overall program, from acting through to writing, can suffer.

I am a Hillbilly Redneck with very little education, however I can speak better than most news people on TV. Here are some of my pet peeves;
NUCULAR war instead of nuclear
the prisoner EXCAPED instead of escaped
Also when a person is telling a story and they say, "and then he PROCEEDED to slap my face." or "I was minding my own business when he just walks up to me and proceeds to tell me ..."

And " I go , well if you want to come and he goes , well, I dont know and I go, well, you need to let me know soon and he goes well. okay and I go....

I could actually write a book on this subject!

PS. I almost forgot this one! People who call Dachsund dogs Dash-hounds and Chahuahuas Cha-wow-wows!

People in the entertainment business are not highly educated - at least not most of them. They are there to entertain -they are not to be idolized or be used as a guide in life - I will say use their dumbness as one of their way to entertain and have fun with them - they are just human beings also, they are entitled to some mistakes too - plus their job is to entertain anyway. Let's all have fun.

My most-oft beef is what we'd call
the local newsanchors.

"Join Susan and I at eleven."

"For MORON this story..."

Just the tone and setup of their showcase
of watered-down, dumbed-down promotion
is something I gleaned from them rather early-on.

It's loathsome and sad when you think about it.

Which is why I simply haven't been able to
watch it in over 20 yrs. It doesn't stop there,
but here is not the scope for this.
Thank you.

Just listen to any sports broadcast. Former jocks often use grammar incorrectly. Try the NFL preview shows...
