What I have found is that folks are much the same. There may be some differing customs such as events and foods. There are a lot of good folks and some not so good folks.
I try to listen and learn before offering my opinions.
I have lived in a few small towns that were very cliquish and I did not every make it into the "in group." What I found was that my life went on and I had plenty to do anyway.
Best wishes to you.

My husband is from Hungary and I am American.
We live part-time in both countries.
Years ago when I came to Hungary to visit, I couldn't wait to return to the US because everything in Hungary was so strange for me. It was too crowed, strange language, people in the family get too personal about things.it was just too weird for me.
Now that I am older, and have been make to Hungary many times,it is so much easier for me. I am not sure if I have just learned to accept things or I have matured more. I do daily yoga and joined a ladies health club in Hungary to get out on my own and met people myself.
It is true that there is no place like home but you can try to make the best of things no matter where you are.

Indeed I have felt like a fish out of the water...this July I moved from Wisconsin to Washington. I left all of my family and friends to head out to college ~ once out here I felt like I didn't belong...being a freshman in college at 21 years of age. I knew thought that this is where God wanted me to be so I clung to Him and kept pushing forward ; )

I felt the same way when I moved to Missouri from Arizona. I just went on with my life and things got better. Hang in there. Things will get better for you as time goes on. I'll make sure of that
