What does your doctor say, I hope you are seeing him on regular examinations.
I think you have your numbers off. No way you are at 40th week. Normal incubation is 36 weeks, after that the doctor will try to induce delivery.

That riddle is completely in the hands of the baby. Some babies don't even bother moving till right when it's time. Some babies are dropped and engaged at 6 months. My first didn't budge my second and third where down so low they were pressing on my cervix by the 6th month like they were gonna just drop out at any moment. I would think the doctor is leaning towards c-section more because your 40 weeks or you just heard the word c-section and assumed the worst. They didn't talk to you about your choices with inducing or breaking your water? They usually try other things before they just pull out the surgery card.
Also I have to say you nimrod jay_d_skinner, since when is a human female's normal incubation period 36 weeks?

You are 39 weeks (if you are due on the 11th).
There is still time for the baby's head to settle into the pelvis. Sometimes the head still bobs around a bit when this late in pregnancy, doesn't mean it won't engage, sometimes it even engages in labor as the contractions push it down into place. Don't worry about a c/s at this point, give it a little more time, only after you try labor will you know the head is not going to come down.

it doesn't mean the baby won't drop. It happens to some women that they drop late. Sometimes the doctor can manilupate the baby to turn head down.
If your pelvis isn't big enough maybe that is why. Ask your doctor questions. Write them down so that you don't forget.
My daughter dropped during labor and did fine. She was stuck for awhile and was facing C section. As a retired OB nurse I told the nurse to catherize her bladder becasue she had been getting IV for a long time. At first the nurse ignored me because I made her look bad. So another nurse came along and after her bladder was empty she dropped and delivered quickly.
Take walks
I wish you the best

I have had 3 c-sections, so it's not all that bad. Has the dr done an ultrasound? I know when I was pregnant with my first, he too was also high, and they didn't do an ultrasound until I was in my 40th week and they determined that he was Breach. I hope the best for you. I would suggest walking, or swimming. Also have lots of sex, because that really helps.

I agree with Sara the doctor will do what is best for the both of you. My daughter never dropped, I was three days past due and they looked in with a ultrasound and found out that not only was she breech but the cord was wrapped around her neck three times. I thank god that she did not drop, I wouldn't have the best miracle of my life. I understand your feelings and your concerns. I am sure that everything will work out fine in the end. For now just take it easy and rest while you can.

is this the 1st baby? if so, you probably have 2 more weeks to go. sometimes they try to turn the baby in the drs office. my 1st son tried every evening to turn starting at 40 weeks. he was to big by that time. a c-sect isn't as bad as people think. it only took 1 hour. i had twins next and 1 was breach. another c-sect. each one gets easier. my youngest son finally turned at the last minute. May God Bless you and your baby's birth. don't be scared of a c-sect.

you still have some time. the baby should drop and then mother nature will take over. you are safe for about 2 week past your due date. my daughter hung in there that long. and then for 36 hours of labor before i crowned. she was a stubborn thing. should have told me something then. hehe. just relax. enjoy the last little bit of peace and quiet before your bundle gets here. rest and drink plenty of water. hope that all goes well.

labour pains (contractions) ensue frequently, they commence and end. its whilst they commence getting close at the same time is once you may desire to truly be on the well-being middle. braxton hicks are like prepare contractions yet they shouldnt relatively injury as such, in straightforward terms somewhat uncomfortable, additionally you may desire to of been getting those for a mutually as now so which you will desire to have the potential to tell the version.it ought to additionally be the toddler appropriate into your pelvis making waiting for beginning, this could sense fairly uncomfortable in case you have a small pelvis (it did with me). i think of you may desire to work out somebody in case you're nerve-racking and stable success.
