Can someone tell me what happened to some of the characters on ER?

Question

I wasn't able to watch most of last season's shows so I don't know why the characters, Kerry and Ray, are gone. Also, what happened to Sara Gilbert's character and to Dr. Gallant?

Kerry Weaver - Laura Innes left midway through Season 13, in the episode "A House Divided," when a reluctant Kovač was forced by budget cuts to fire her character, Dr. Kerry Weaver. After bracing for a battle to keep her position, and in spite of the fact that Kovač realized he must find a way to keep her on staff, Weaver ultimately decided to resign from County and accept a job offer from a television station in Miami, Florida.

Ray Barnett - Shane West also left at the end of the 13th season after his character, Ray Barnett lost both his legs and returned to Baton Rouge with his mother to recuperate. His character may return during the 14th season. West's final appearance as a main cast member was in "The Honeymoon is Over."

Jane Figler - Sara Gilbert - is still listed as a current cast member - ER Intern, later resident Dr. Jane Figler 2004-present

Michael Gallant - Sharif Atkins left the series twice; once in the Season 10 episode "Where There's Smoke," when his character, Dr. Michael Gallant, revealed that the Army was sending him to Iraq, and more definitively in the Season 12 episode "The Gallant Hero and The Tragic Victor," when he was killed by a roadside bomb while serving a second tour.

I think Kerry moved on with her career (done with the ER).
Ray is still going to show up on this season'...last season he was pretty down about not getting to be with Neela & by accident while walking across the street, he was hit by a truck/bus...he lost his legs.
I don't know what's up with Sara G's character, but I hope she's back. Dr. Gallant was killed by a bomb in Iraq......after that is when Ray & Neela became roommates/friends "with benefits", but Neela has been in a love triangle with Ray & "Gates", Jon Stamos's character.
