Hello Shirley,
I like to think that these pictures are kept away from public view as a mark of respect to Diana & Dodi and to spare the feelings of her children and the victims families.
Added to this, why should we want to see such pictures? We all know what happened to them and how horrific it was. Surely we do not want to see the proof plastered all over our papers or TV screens. especially 10 years on.
Once this Inquest is concluded, whatever the outcome (as if we did not know what that will be), let us all let Diana and Dodi, and her driver R.I.P

Personally I like so many others am sick of hearing about Diana, people die in tragic circumstances everyday, my own family has been through it twice and the last thing we wanted was it to be dragged up all the time and I'm sure Diana's boys feel the same. Everyone should give them the chance to get on with their lives without being bombarded with media coverage for the next ten years maybe. As for publishing horrific pictures I don't think the press should publish these pictures after all only people who have a macabre interest in these things would wish to look at them and I certainly wouldn't want pictures like that of my family in the papers, who would. Although I am not a Royalist I feel it is irrelevant that she was Royalty, they were still a family and their feelings and privacy should be respected and she should be allowed just like anyone else to rest in peace. The British public were so obsessed with her when she was alive (not me personally) then surely they should want closure for all concerned. As for the Americans and the pictures of Kennedy I think that was different circumstances as it was being filmed already during a very public occasion and not after the event however that doesn't make ir right either. Let's just hope lessons have been learnt and respect for peoples lives and wishes will come before any competition for best media coverage.

You've sort of just answered your own question, friend. Except that Jackie Kennedy (Onassis) died some years ago. But I see your point. William and Harry wouldn't want to see such pictures, I'm sure.
One thing I've never understood, however, is why the car Diana was in was such a mess with the roof caved in etc. It didn't roll over, so we are told, so why?

How can Jackie Kennedy cringe every time she sees footage of that fateful day when she has been dead for a long time????????? I expect it has been shown in Time magazine who are usually quick to show that type of photo but I wouldn't rush to see something that is gruesome. it would only cause me to have visions of it periodically and I would not like that.

Here's my opinion.......I don't want to see the pic's of Diana. It was tragic. Lets NOT relive it. Also Jackie Kennedy probably doesn't cringe anymore because she's not alive. But yes.....when she was that was wrong. We've become a very graphic society. sometimes it's just not good.

i presumed they have been actual. I examine on the front website of the solar the day gone by, that the Italians had positioned a image of Diana with a oxygen masks to her face after the twist of destiny in between the papers. that's vile and disgusting and brings shame to the Italians.

Pro: Diana was a public figure and media loves to get all the information it can, regardless of good taste.
Con: I'm asking the same question as you. Let's put Diana to rest.

i think they should be shown. Diana wasn't that important and the public have a right to see them. All i want is for people to stop going on about what a great woman she was. She wasn't She just did what anyone would have to do in her postition. She wasn't some saint she did cheat on her husband

I dont understand why america covers her death every freakin year. In reality she really has not reason to be so damn famous, she did things alot of people in her position do, big deal. she died/ was murdered, I understand, but no reason to keep going on about it. I just dont get why the american media cares so much.
