use either a masonry bit or a bit specified for glass [ it sort of looks like an arrowhead]

You sure can do it with a special drill bit for ceramics. They come in packs of 6 or so different sizes and I got them at walmart or target.

sure go to hardware store buy a concret drill bit if that doesnt work try sand blasting
