Well, I can tell you from experience that the best approach I found was Natural Family Planning. If you ask your church they should have information there as to who provides the class. Catholics require the class, that is why I took it. I love the method. Natural, your husband gets involved and you don't have to worry about the side effects of everything else. They provide information on the other methods as well and tell you all the risks involved. Like with spermicide you carry the chance of the sperm being defected, the pill ages your reproductive organs (if you will), and the shot and those implants have horrible side effects. Look into. It was really helpful for my husband and myself. They have two methods and we found the thermal one to be harder so we are currently using the Ovulation Method, but every couple is different. Good luck and God Bless.

There are a variety of contraceptive options. What's best for you really depends on a number of things such as your health and lifestyle.

Would getting pregnant devastate you? It would me, so things like diaphrams are not an option, not reliable enough. Ask your doctor about hormonal contraceptives such as 'the pill', the nuva ring or the depo provera shot. Personally, I'm on 'the pill' and I love it! It has so many positive side effects besides no babies, I get shorter periods, less cramps and it helps with my PMS related mood swings. Of course, you have to remember to take it at the exact same time everyday.

Barrier methods are not only less reliable, but kind of annoying too, because spontaneous sex isn't so spontaneous when you've got to stop and worry about birth control, then your thinking 'I hope this doesn't fail!' and I don't know about you, but nothing turns me off more than thinking I could be getting knocked up. And if anything fails, you'll need to have a pack of Plan B/the morning after pill around to prevent pregnancy.

You may want a IUD, which is just as reliable as hormonal contraceptive.

If you're never wanting children, then ask your future husband to get a vasectomy. I'm assuming your younger and a doctor isn't going to tie your tubes quite yet, but men can get vasectomies as soon as they ask.

Talk to your doctor. It takes about 7 days for 'the pill' to start working and women typically start it during or right after a period, so you should see your doctor soon. Visit http://www.plannedparenthood.org for more information about contraceptive methods.

Don't take the pill. Unless you are used to it you could turn into a lunatic. And you may very well kill your husband. (Bad for new marriages.) It takes months to get used to and until then you're on a rollercoaster of hormones. DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT HORMONES!!!! Don't use VCF film; it doesn't work. I have a $900 bill for a medical procedure to prove it doesn't. Diaphrams get stuck. They don't make spounges anymore but they get stuck, too. I have had 100% success for over 10 years with Conceptrol brand cream. It's easy to use and it WORKS. Use it right before you 'need to.' It lasts for an hour. Try some before you have sex, about a week before to make sure it doesn't bother you. Use only 1 application. Using 2 can give you an uncomfortable feeling. Using 2 of ANY form of birth control can give your husband a rash. You should also visit an OBGYN before the big day. And remember, shave your legs the day of, or not at all. Have fun!

Depends how soon you want to start a family. A diaghram is easy to use and you can stop anytime.

Go to your doctor and find out what your options are.
