Take a non extensible string tie it with a small solid ball. Hand the assembly with a nail, and swing the pendulum. Measure the time period for small oscillations. And use the following formula to find g
T = 2pi sqrt(l/g) where T and l are known 2pi is constant and so you can compute g.
Do take many values of g to avoid external errors and then take average.

Gravity the accelerating tendency of bodies toward the center
of the earth. This is constant. No measurement needed as this is always given on Physics Books. You can construct
a glass vacumm chamber with a feather and a heavier object
and a timer. You can then invert it so that the two object will
fall at the same time. The weight of the object has no effect
on the rate of fall as you will find out that both will travel at the same time.

The pendulum is a good way to measure gravity.
Another way is to roll a ball down a ramp. It will undergo constant acceleration but a small enough acceleration to measure easily. Then compute g:
g = A / sin(angle of ramp)

gravity equals mass, the larger the mass the more gravity there is. gravity cannot easily be measured at home because you need to be in zero gravity to construct a suitable test.

A gravitron. Check out Wikkpedia for instructions. All you need are some simple household items: tin foil, a fork, scotch tape and a magnet. You will have to buy a turtle though or two turtles if you're planning to do the test twice. Good luck !

in order to measure somethin you have to have a frame of reference...its called a g-force and it equals the gravity of earths gravitational pull within its atmosphere...you dont need to measure gravity in your home...i can assure you it is exactly 1 g-force
