For me it is the relationship between things that seem to have no relationship. To see how things like the personal saving rate affect other things like interest rates and money supply.

Also, to study and see why things happen when and how they do. Why did the fed decide to raise interest rates? Why does capitalism and a free-market society work? It takes some of the mystery and frustration out of life.
