I would say both love and hate are equally 'powerful' or 'effective in ways to bring about changes'. Apathy is a non-committed, neutral feeling so it hasn't any real power though it may sometimes cause a little anger or hate. Love is positive, though in extreme cases, degrades into an obsession and may bring about certain negative aspects of a person's life. But hate at its extreme can upset one's life, resulting in nervous breakdown, depression, fights or even murder. It is best to take charge of whatever love or hate one has towards another person, pet, thing, hobby, vocation, etc otherwise both can bring about negative aspects, if taken to extremes. In most things in life, moderation is the wisest path to follow. How one handles love, hate or apathy can determine the state of your overall health, happiness and longevity.

As light is to dark, so is love to hate. Even though it takes one to know the other, love is hands down the strongest. Love can over come all things. And with love come peace, with peace, joy. But understand that the loss of any of it will open you up to pains of life. Apathy, that is just being lost in the middlesomewhere not wanting to go back to one or the other.

The saying is "Love conquers all!"
I agree apathy is dangerous.
Also I would like to add that you have to care to hate
someone.
A friend said " I'm glad you hate President Bush."
And I said "Hating him is beneath me. I am a mellow person!"

Powerful in what way?

Hate is the strongest emotion because it builds in a way nothing else does.

It is also the most destructive for the person who is holding hatred in his heart.

They also say love conquers all.

To get an answer you need to define it more closely
