Sadly, the only defense against the onslaught of spam right now is the Spam filter. Get one and add some custom rules and soon messages from that sender will disappear.

You can never stop a person sending you spam but there are ways to avoid receiving it.

The most effective answer is a spam filter. There are many but if you use Outloook, SpamBayes is very good (and superior to Outlook's own spam filter). Many ISPs also have their own spam filters which can sometimes be a little heavy handed and classify asked for mail as spam.

Whatever you use, it is worth checking and clearing out your spam folder from time to time. Do check, though, because no filter is 100% perfect and some mail that you were expecting does get misclassified.

There are one or two things that one should avoid doing with spam mail. The main thing one should NEVER do is to click on any 'unsubscribe' link in an unsolicited mail. This merely tells the spammer that your email is valid - information worth a lot to people who compile and market email lists for spammers!

It is advisable, also, not to open spam mail because if it is in HTML format, it may contain links to graphics on a server. Once the mail is opened, that link can be activated and the server is immediately aware that the mail has been read. Some graphics used for this purpose are invisible to the casual observer and may be 1 x 1 pixel transparent gifs.

Mailwasher is another program that can be used if you use POP and SMTP mail. It scans your mail provider's server and can delete mail before even you download it. It can also send a message to the sender saying that the mail was 'undeliverable'. This may be of little value, though, because the return address in spam mail may very often be fictitious or spoofed.

Finally, sending unsolicited mail is a criminal offence (besides being universally considered unethical) in some countries. I don't think any established church of any denomination would entertain getting their message out there by such means! I would expect that the Yahoo account that you mention above (stepheeministry) has already been deleted by Yahoo, since using their accounts for spamming contravenes Yahoo's Terms of Service. You could certainly forward the mail you received to abuse@yahoo.com with a complaint that this user appears to be misusing their account!

You cant stop someone from sending spam but you can surely prevent it by installing free softwares which can help your computer block those spams from your email account. If everyone installs these spam filters then probably that firm your talking about might just end up shutting down! Dont worry there are plenty of jokers out there.

That spammer's website can run a malicious script. This runs interior your browser and can tell webmail at the instant logged in interior that browser to deliver junk mail.
