Anyone can take legal action to recover debts owed to them irrespective of the circumstances of the person owing the debt. It's always a good idea to contact those you owe money to in order to explain your financial situation. In most cases, they will ask you to make regular minimum repayments until the debt is cleared.

Contact the credit card company and explain the situation. Then agree to pay something every month, just a token until your money situation improves.
Go to the Social Security Administration website:
http://www.ssa.gov/
and see how to file for SSI or Social Security Disability Payments. This is a tax free income that you are eligible for. It never ends and can only be stopped if you can work again. You might want to get a SS Lawyer to help you. By law the date you file your claim is when the payments start. So you can get a large check if time goes by while SS acts. The lawyer by Law also can only charge you 20% up to $5000. There can be no other fees involved. That rate is on money from the date you applied until the first month's check.
Go to the Disabled American Veterans at the Veterans Adminstration in your area. See how to increase your VA pension. Also, see if there are any grants you are eligible for. If your house loan is a VA loan the VA can take it back for you and really reduce the interest rate.

mastercard companies and the series companies that purchase up charged off debt are all greater probable to bypass to courtroom over even particularly small balances. some credit enjoying cards have their own in-dwelling house series depts and are very aggressive approximately accumulating defaulted bills. Capital One is one that takes no prisoners. they have been common to sue for as low as $200. it style of feels that Citibank is following tournament. undergo in concepts that judgments are good for an prolonged time and may well be renewed. in case you haven't any longer something now, they'd wait until you do.

The credit card comapny loaned you money. They want their money back.
The fact that you're involved in a workmans compensation lawsuit and waiting for social security disability payments has nothing to do with the credit card debt.
You can discuss the financial situation with the credit card company, and see if they will be patient enough to wait for their money. Be aware, though, that your financial issues (workmans compensation and social security) are non-issues for the credit card company. They have nothing to do with those problems.

They can certainly sue you. It would be better if you could file bankruptcy before they get a judgment against you, but it's much harder to file it now. Otherwise, if you can't pay it, the judgment isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

They sure can. They don't care about what else you have going on as you owe, period. You may not pay but you will still owe.
