I drank some Chai (spiced tea and hot milk) thinking the warm milk would help me sleep - now I am having the classical "can't sleep, mind is wandering, boy I must have had caffiene" thing going on.

I thought about trying benedryl - anyone know of anything else that might help me sleep?

What about some melatonin? It is very good to take before you go to bed. Makes me sleepy with no side effects. Also, drink some chamomile tea. A warm bath and something that would bore you silly to wind down. I like cross word puzzles. I am out like a light. I am naturally a night owl and do my best work at night so I have to resort to this ritual when I throw myself off my natural pattern. May the Lord bless you!

This might sound weird, but what I do is, first I'll turn on a fan on low for "white noise", and then I'll try to "breathe like I'm sleeping", breathe slow and deep, and that helps me a lot. Also, just try to slow down the "thinking in your head", talk slower and try to sound sleepy in your head or think of yawning.

Benedryl will help you sleep, since it is the same medication in over the counter sleeping pills. You might be groggy when you wake up, though.
