Well if he really loves her then why would he split up with her because her parents abuse her? She is 17 and there is not much her parents can do if she chooses to live somewhere else. I would also suggest she make a complaint to the Police as to the abuse. She should also tell child services about the abuse too. The more people she tells, the safer she will be. She wont have to divorce her parents....she just has to stay away from them and notify the authorities of the abuse. No-one has the right to abuse another person......including parents. If your brother loves her as much as you are saying, then he should support her in this and not break up with her.

She can call Child Protective Services, show them the bruises and get placed in a foster home until she turns 18.
It is ugly and they will never speak to her again, but sometimes it is better than the life she has.
In the eyes of the law, sadly, he is just some guy she met yesterday at the Pizza Parlor, so he doesn't count.
His love doesn't count.
His age doesn't count.
He doesn't count, when you get down to it.
It is her and her bruises. She has to do it. It is a horrible decision.
I'm sorry. Sometimes we're embarrassed to be vertebrates, let alone homo sapiens.

She should file for emancipate and she needs to stand before a judge and prove her case. GOOD LUCK and if that doesn't work she has the choice to live with whom ever she chooses, when you turn 16 you have that right, I'm a living witness, I went through somethings my mom was unfit, get her school social workers involved, I have been through the courts ware they let me decide b/c of my age legally and that was the person the courts gave temporary custody to and I even changed a few times but it was my choice and her mom has to sign the paperwork!

Depending on your state you could become emancipated, however it's a prolonged process and you'd better have a pretty compelling reason to present to the judge. She could try a group or cluster home for displaced children.

Sure can. It's called emancepation. But since there's no point since she will be eighteen soon. And you might want to check your state laws for the legal age is. It varies from state to state. If not they can at least put her in foster care until she is eighteen and then she can move in with your brother.

She can become emancipated but she will have to show proof that she is capable of being on her own. But IF she went to he hospital why wasn't CPS called in? They would have put her into foster care at least.

she can file a police report about the abuse and contact protective services in her area to get help but he - your brother - should make sure that it is love that he feels and not that he just feels sorry for her, and you have to give her time to see what she wants when she gets out of the abusive situation.

17 is old enough to leave home in most states. If she can find another relative to live with, or a worthy friend, perhaps she should do that.
