if you know that you are unhappy in the marriage, then you need to be honest with the person. and let them know how you
feel about it,it will get harder down the road if you dont deal with one way or another.

There's not a lot of details there to go on 'friend' so, let me tell you how I'm going about this exact situation.

I'm going to couseling, and honestly giving it my best go, and so is he. I figured, even IF I married the wrong person, I'm going to still have to give him professional proof that what I think is true, and that we are WRONG to be married. Then he'll be able to accept it a lot better, and there won't be a battle over marital property (what's fair is fair) or children's custody rights, etc. In short, like a mediation.

What I have found is that prior to our marriage, we both brought a lot of unresolved ISSUES into this marriage, and let's just say those issues don't mix. It's the issues that aren't getting along. We do just fine actually! What we are learning is that I am not the sum/total of my emotional baggage and he is not the sum/total of his habits and hobbies. Too often we identify and personify ourselves with 'what we do' or our "quirks". (kinda like if you were to take McDonald's away from Ronald, you'd just have a stupid clown)

We are starting to learn to personify ourselves with eachother, which causes closeness and appropriate bonding. Also with our best abilities to please eachother. You can only imagine how that alone has helped!

Unless the spouse commits adultery, there is no ending it until the death of the spouse.

You explain to the spouse that you're leaving. It's as simple as that.
