The "Varga Girl" pinups have a timeless appeal, for obvious reasons, as do the Bunny Yeager photo pin-ups of Bettie Page.

Of the modern-era pin-up artists, the best seem to be fantasy artists. Boris Vallejo, Rowena Morrill and Luis Royo are all very well known for combining heroic physiques and fantasy elements. I personally prefer Larry Elmore, because although he isn't in the same league as Boris (who, while being technically amazing,. seems to have the same oily, greasy people and beasts doing all the same stuff in different poses!) he is awesome. I originally discovered Larry Emore because of his influential muscular-dragon designs, but his pin-up subjects are incredibly babe-worthy.

Of course, there are many others as well.

I don't think anyone can beat Vargas, but I do like some of the paintings done by a woman named Rowena.
