I currently have a whisper pf 10 and would like to know if an impellor made for a whisper pf 20 would work to make it filter the water faster I plan on getting a goldfish.

Its your choice .I dont think it will make that of a difference other than more filteredt water at a faster rate .

If you plan to have a goldfish I would recommend 20 gallons pf.

Benifits :In case you later want to buy bigger aquarium as your goldy will definitely outgrow so 20 gallon pf will also fit in 20 gallons aquarium later on . But ig you have 10 gallons pf ..it might not be that useful if you plan to expand your community.

Yeah so I WAS YOU I WOULD GO WITH 20 GALLONS PF.

Hope this helps.

Why don't you just go buy the whole filter instead of just the impeller? Then you can have a bigger area for the nitrogen fixing bacteria to colonize, which is ultimately just as important as the turnover of water. If you are keeping your Goldfish in a 10 gallon tank, you will eventually need to upgrade, so you might as well have the entire filter ready to upgrade (not just the impeller that probably wouldn't fit anyway). For a 20 gallon tank, just go buy a filter for a 55 gallon tank, and you should be in good shape (as far as filtration, that still isn't enough room for Common Goldfish). Email me if you have any questions.
