I am in favor of legalizing marijuana for these reasons. We spend far too much time, money, and man power looking for roaches in ashtrays when the serious drugs are being used in massive amounts by our citizens. Marijuana is very effective as a pain reliever and should be available to anyone with chronic, debilitating pain from an illness or injury. If people could grow marijuana for their own personal use without fear of being arrested, the tons of it that is being transported in and sold at ridiculous prices would vanish. The drug task forces could focus on the heroin, cocaine, and other drug problems in this country. And finally, I would much rather meet a pot smoker on the highway than a drunk driver. How many articles have you seen lately about a vehicle crashing into another vehicle and claiming several lives and the cause being the driver smoking a joint?

First of all, it should not be called a drug in the first place. It is an herb. Grown correctly, it is not chemically altered. Why is it so important to criminalize marijuana when its effects are widely accepted (on both sides) to make 'users' : compliant, relaxed, happy, non-judgemental, reflective, hungry, humorous, creative, artistic, sometimes forgetful or tired. Collectively, that sounds like the way I'd like a LOT more people to be! THC connects to cannabinoid receptors in the brain. These receptors are in parts of the brain that influence 'pleasure, memory, thought, concentration, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.'
There are in fact, studies being done now using 'mj' to treat children with ADD/HD. Its a more organic approach, that is gaining a huge following. Under the care of a qualified physician, children were taken off Ritalin and other toxic medications for this condition, with very promising results. The parents were taught how to make breakfast food with it like, a 'peanut butter spread' on toast. One piece of toast in the AM, is a peanut mix of totally organic and government grown cannabis that is giving families hope. How can we withhold such an harmless 'substance' from our own children? To think, people keep shoving this total Amphetamine = CRAP (aka METH) down their kids throats, while lining the pockets of pharmaceutical companies and the godforsaken politicians is an alarming thought. The fact that American's aren't paying very much attention either, is frankly, even more alarming.
I'm a Mom and I'm fed up! Oh yes, it makes much more sense to keep letting child molesters out so we can free up more room for those horrible stoners. Get real people, you're hurting our children!! Our prisons are entirely over populated with those dreaded stoners who just want to play video games and eat pop tarts. Makes a lot of !@#$%^& sense!

i agree that it helps some people with sickness, seeing i did a essay on why and why not it should be legal. but as all humans, when they get hands on something good, they usually overdo it in 95% of the cases. THC has different effects on many different people, and if marijuanna was available to everyone, 60% of the people would have panic attacks, and would not be able to function properly. also more than 70% of the people would turn to higher drugs, such as cocaine, meth or extasy and the whole country would go into anarchy. marijuanna is good, to some extend and to a certain number of people. i am not against marijuanna but i am strongly anti drug, seeing ive lost a number of friends to drugs, and drug dealing, and even more have screwed up their lifes really bad. and i agree that alchohol is much worse than alittle pot, because my family will be suffering for quite the time to come due to alchoholism. i also think that cigarettes are worse than marijuanna cigarettes

for it, having it illegal is dragging down the economy because it is in the "black market" and anything in the black market brings down the economy as a whole. Since risk is so high to provide the product the distributors can charge a high price. If it is legal than the price will drop due to less demand. its all about economics, the people who use it are going to use it either way so why not reduce the drag on the economy by legalizing it.

I think there should be the same laws for marijuana as there is for alcohol. If you are twenty-one then you should be able to use. Also taxed and regulated but legal.

Marijuana has been connected ( linked) in 35 new sudies in the UK to adult onset schizophrenia and psychotic episodes in moderate to frequents users of the drug. I believe that it should be legal MEDICINALLY for terminally ill patients and remain a controlled substance.

Yes , Along with every other narcotics is illegal now. Because
1. That would free up a very large amount of Law Enforcement manpower
2. The majority of incarcerations in this Country are drug related, you could free up jails and prisons
3. TAX the HELL out of it . millions of $$$ can be made from this, even if you tax it the same way everything else is
4. you would eliminate the majority of burglaries and other robbery crimes.

the war on drugs doesnt work. prohibition on marijuana doesnt work. it is easier for kids to get weed then cigarettes. legalize it, and it puts way more money into the economy, and everybody benefits.
