Things that serve no purpose have no worth, so purpose gives our lives worth.

We are constantly trying to establish our worth. Most of us try to do that by seeking real and imagined praise, i.e. "I think my purpose is to make a difference in the world". We deceive ourselves into thinking that praise equals worth. If we try to get a feeling of worth this way, we are always having to do something to earn our worth.
When we were children, we found our worth in the love of our parents, not though anything we did. It is the Christian idea that just being a child of God gives us worth.
Christians believe that seeking God and allowing Him to reveal Himself to us is our purpose.
