I don't think babies need pacifiers. My daughter would never stick to one. Plus if you're breastfeeding people advise against them because it makes their latching harder. Also I think it's bad to start kids on pacifiers and you can't get them off so end up with some 2 year old walking around with a pacifier in it's mouth like a rubber shut-up toy.

Would you want your child to use a pacifier or their thumb. Remember the thumb makes buck teeth but a pacifier does not. my neice just turned one and she is off of it but she should not of been because she just got her teeth and it was painful because she did not have nothing to suck on. The teethers are great but not if a child can not hold onto it while in the mouth. There is no problem with a baby or child sucking on a pacifier. Most people think if is wrong because it is like telling your child to shut up and it is not.

Babies do not NEED to have a pacifier, it really is up to the parents. In fact some children dont even like them. My daughter had one after my husband kept sticking his fingerin her mouth, I didn't want to give her one but I thought at least if she had a dummy I could sterilise it. My main worry was tking it off her, but by the time she was about ten months she gave it up of her own accord.
My son on the other hand was given one from birth and never took to it, so by the time he was a month old we had discarded it. I truly believe that babies have so much they have to give up that giving them another crutch which eventually you have to take away isn't always a goodthing, but then if you have a child that needs the soother you have to consider all the pros and cons.

I breastfed my daughter for a few weeks and then she didn't want to feed anymore from me... I gave her a pacifier when she slept because I heard it reduces the risk of SIDS and I was always scared about that.....She won't take it any other time.. only when she is sleeping.. she is 10 months old now. But no, babies don't need pacifiers. They just come in handy!

No, they don't need them, but some babies use it as a soothing mechanism. I know from experience. My first born was in the hospital for 23 days and the nurses are the ones that got her hooked on it, but she was unable to nurse or eat until about the 14th day she was in there. My second born, she never wanted a pacifier! I was always used to having my first use one so I thought my second would be the same way. It depends on the babies preference.

You would be amazed how many children do not use pacifiers. It just depends on the child. I did not want my daughter to use the pacifier from day one. I breastfeed her. They did end up giving her one in the hospital without asking me. I was lucky this did not effect her nursing.
I then let her use one when we would go on car rides, when she as older. Over 3 months. But, she never took to it. So, I never forced it. I only did this, because people around me said i should give it a try. I am very happy it never took.
I did end up being a human pacifier for a while though.... :))

My first son wouldn't take one and didn't want one. My second had to go to the NICU and those nurses in there were crazy about giving babies pacifiers because they were so busy. They didn't have time to go to each baby when they cried so they stuck pacifiers in their mouths all the time. That's where my son got hooked on them at. My son loves his pacifier but is starting to wean himself off of it. He's 3 months almost.

When I was a baby, I was told that I just always spit it out and didn't want one. My son used one sometimes, but after a few months old, just didn't want it anymore. Babies definitely do not need a pacifier, but it can be a lifesaver when nothing else seems to calm a baby. But they definitely do not need one, and if the baby doesn't want one, then definitely do not keep trying to offer it, because as they get older, they can become dependent on it and not want to give it up when they are too old.

ive got 3 kids and i never gave 1 of them a pacifier. they might cry for 5 mins longer when they go to bed but its not that much of a big difference. trying to wean them off the pacifier would be a pain in the neck and i hate it when you see 6 year old kids still sucking one coz they cant give it up. im expecting baby number 4 now and this 1 wont be getting 1 either!

You dont prefer a pacifier. They do seem to help soothe some infants to sleep. in case you such as you may desire to purchase some distinctive ones to attempt along with your baby, via fact that all infants seem to have distinctive alternatives. i attempted the NUK ones and my daughter spit it out. She took nicely to the Soothies sort pacifier so we've been utilising them, yet in straightforward terms now and returned whilst she seems to be relatively drained and perplexing to settle asleep on her very own (shes in straightforward terms 2 months awesome now). purely undergo in innovations your baby could or would possibly no longer even have an interest in the pacifier, and which you will ought to pass by some trial and blunder to discover the awesome one that your baby will settle for. with regards to the deformation of your youngster's teeth, i've got faith like it fairly is an previous better halves tale. in the adventure that your baby looks to prefer one and can settle for a definite sort of pacifier, i might say use it. whilst the youngster is perplexing to cool down, you would be happy you got here across some thing to maintain them content cloth relatively of screaming at you uncontrollably.
