It's a joke... if you don't like it, too bad. Don't watch the show. This political correct bull is getting old.

I think the whole thing's been blown out of proportion. It was dialogue on a TV show -- it doesn't represent the views of the station, or even the writers. Right or wrong, people do talk like that and make those assumptions, and it wouldn't be doing anyone any favors to pretend otherwise.

The whole point of the comment was meant to convey that the doctor was not smart enough to get into a Medical school in the US and had to find one far away.
I don't think it was meant to be degrading to anyone.Usually people like to go to school where they live.

no, for me as a Filipino it's absolutely degrading! racism should stop! i think teri hatcher must apologize as well, as an actress she always have the last say! there are plenty of Filipino medical practitionists that are striving hard to earn a degree and it's not easy plus the fact that most of the medical schools here in the Phils has a reputation. right? love your own! lolz! hey seaside dude better watch the news!!!

Yes, it was offensive, but the writers are responsible, not only Teri Hatcher. Yes, she could have refused to say the line, but they also could have asked the question without involving race in the first place.
