We should. But we won't. They don't have oil. Darfur would have been the logical place to fight the Islamic Terrorists. It's a place that is far more hostile to them than it is to us.

And, because of the genocide, the whole civilized world would have supported the US without hesitation.

But Bush was so anxious to shut down Iraqi oil production that he even gave up victory in Afghanistan to make his own oil and that of his Saudi friends more valuable.

And somehow, terrorism doesn't seem so terrible to Republicans when the victims are Black. Religious groups have made a fuss about the Christian Victims, but it's not a hot button issue the way abortion and gay bashing is. While memories of the disastrous relief effort in Somalia also haunt Americans.

It's hard to imagine a US where Big Oil's influence would be too weak to prevent our doing the right thing. Maybe the EU will finally do something in a few years. There aren't enough stable African States to do much of anything.

Why is it always America that has to right every wrong in this world? When we do step forward, the majority of the world assumes the worst possible motives for our actions. Africa has many Countries with a better and more pressing need to end the genocide. Where is the call for them to step up and help their fellow man?

In a perfect world, there would be no Darfur. No Iraq or Iran. We do not live in a perfect world. I am all in favor of righting wrongs wherever and whenever possible. However, until no child in America goes to bed hungry or cold and until no one lives under a bridge in a cardboard box; until no elderly person is abused in a nursing home; and until no mentally ill person is warehoused in an institution, I am in favor of putting our time, effort, and money into fixing those problems first!
I do not believe in flying over a mission field to get to a mission field.

Sure we care, but who's the bad guy in Darfur? One of the rebel groups in Darfur recently killed a bunch of African Union peacekeepers. I cannot imagine a stupider thing for our country to do than to take sides in a civil war.

How about the so called "invisible children" of south america, asia, russia, and even in our own country. I don't know why africa gets so much coverage but there are places 10 times as worse as uganda or the congos becuase relief has been spread all over africa, while people ignore other "less interesting" parts of the war. if you really care, why don't you get off the african band-wagon, go join the peace corps and help them instead of sitting on your *** all day and whining to people about how african children are treated. actions speak louder than words my friend.

Maybe you should ask Hillary about that..during her visit after the genocide attempt in the 90s she vowed to see that it would never happen again.
But with the worlds view as to the bullying of the U.S. it would be looked upon as forcing other countries to adhere to our ways...so blame the democrats and other liberals of the world....once again history repeats itself in many ways.
Why did we fight those last 2 world wars?
