I've been in a relationship with a man I love for nearly a decade. An old fling has asked to meet up for lunch to catch up. It would be nice to have a friend to chat with, but would this be weird of me?

no, i'm not looking for someone to tell me to go ahead...just trying to figure out if there is anything wrong with meeting up. i've not been around someone who i've had romantic relations with in such a long time that i do not know how to react to the situation. i would like to meet up just to have a friend to chat with.

Been there. Had it done to me. Talk with your man about it first, if he's against it then don't go. Or bring your man along. or invite the guy to your place to have dinner with you and your man. I can tell you from my own experience that if you go alone and your man does not know ahead of time it will be very bad for your relationship.

Bad ,bad idea do not go for your own good.I'm telling you that because i have been there and it is easy to get caught up into a kind of friendship that will lead into something more. Before you know what hits you, you will want to see him more and more and you will convinced yourself that he is only a friend. Stay away from this if you know what's good for you.You don't need an excuse just tell him your boyfriend wouldn't like it and you wouldn't like it if he did it to you.
You been warned it's up to you now.

I think it would be disrespectful to the man you are in a relationship with if you met up with this "old fling" without talking to him about it first.

If you really want to meet this old fling...talk it over with the guy you are involved with... Unless of course you have something to hide.

well....i've been there, done that, and it ended up in an affair, b/c if u want to chat, then there's something wrong. why not chat with the 1 you've been in a relationship with. if i'm wrong, then you'd better keep it just a "chat", or you'll be very confused.

Yes, absolutely "weird"...I'm pretty sure you already know that though. I think you are looking for someone to say " go, great idea!" just to give you an excuse.
Nothing good will come from it.

Would you like it if your new love met a old flame for lunch to catch up?

I don't think it is weird. what is wrong with meeting an old fling? Personally I think someone that you used to have relations with is fun to talk to and reminisce the old times and laugh about stupid things that you used to do together
