Yes I know it's been asked...but here again. I'm a huge fan, and have been since NES. I have played essentialy all of them(that America got) and I have a list of my own.Top 3... 1. Final Fantasy 10-it delt with so many issues...father and son...sin...sacrificing it all...and "Back to Zanarkand" is one of the most beautiful pieces ever written. I have logged over 310 hours..any questions let me know..LOL. 2. Final Fantasy 7-Great story backround, and the most memorable villian in the entire series of course, Sephiroth. Not as deep of a game as I would have liked, but still, excellent. 3. Final Fantasy 4- Of course not as graphicly strong, but super memorable muscial score. Great story and enveloping issues with friends (Kain)...brother (Golbez)...and uncle (FuSoYa). Becoming a paladin and flying to the moon helped too!....Let the debate begin!...Oh yeah...thanks for taking the time.

Well...
1) FF IV. I love that story line, and the characters. It was the first FF game I played that had such a deep story. (For reference, I played FF1, FFA, and FFL 1-3 before then) Also the characters are quite inspirational to the point they are my all time favorite ones from any FF game.
2) FFVIII. Storyline all the way here. But also the game play was quite unique. The leveling foes was a great idea, and would have been better had it been better implemented. Easy monsters stayed easy, hard monsters stayed impossible, so really it didn't do much to improve the overall game balance.
The magic drawing was quite interesting too.
3) This would be FFX, or XII. Both had okay stories, but I felt they were somewhat lacking at times. Also the overkill on FMVs took away something from the game. Both battle styles and level grids were quite unique options, more so 12s only because there was more freedom to it.
And for anyone wondering, FFVII is near the bottom of my list. Too much hype over the game, and the story to me felt disjointed. Even with a second replay I felt the story was weak at best.

Final Fantasy 3 (6 Japan) Story:10/10 Graphics: 10/10 for it's time Sound: 10/10 Gameplay: 10/10 Replay: 10/10 One of the very few that I would give a full 50, even today. When you get to the "World of Despair" it is almost like a whole new game. Loads of characters, two secret ones; One of the top villians in video game history. If you have never played this game and count yourself as an RPG fan or even just someone that likes really good games than you owe it to yourself to pick up this game. They have re-released it for the Gameboy Advance and have plans for releaseing it on the Nintendo DS with a total graphics overhaul. 2nd place Final Fantasy 2( I think 5 in Japan) Story: 10 Graphics:9 for it's time Sound:8 Gameplay:10 Replay:8 This game had some plot twists straight out of a soap opera. Incredible depth in the protaginist's discovery of self. Great game Honorable Mentions: Final Fantasy 7(more of a tie with number two really), and Final Fantasy 11

For mE its Final Fantasy 10 Because:
-it has a great story
-improved graphics
-love the characters
-better than the other two.
-improved Final Fantasy
-Great Songs
-mixed.,, it can be a love story/ it can be a father nd son issue /going back to Zanarkand nd defeating Sin.
-challenging
In every Final Fantasy Squaresoft make,, they make it better than the ones they made before like: FF7 is better than FF4 nd FFX is better than FF7..

Final Fantasy 10 is my favorite FF game. I loved the characters, especially Yuna and Auron. And I really enjoyed the story.
Final Fantasy 6 is my 2nd favorite. It was my first FF game and my first REAL RPG. It had a great story, and Terra was my favorite character.
Final Fantasy 7 would be my 3rd fave.
